Sensor cables are designed to serve a range of applications. Let’s look at how AGW-Gold, AGT-Gold, and TFH-Gold differ.
It’s designed to detect highly corrosive liquid leaks like solvents, acids, and bases. It’s typically used in applications with high temperatures (for example, steam pipe containment systems), IT rooms, cleanroom manufacturing areas’ subfloors, and secondary contained pipes in chemical installations.
It’s also designed to detect highly corrosive solvent, acid, and base leaks. However, it’s a chemically resistant, wicking cable. It’s usually used in aboveground single-wall pipes and equipment applications, subfloors, and clean rooms. Compared to AGW-Gold, this cable requires more drying time. AGT-Gold should always be installed in humidity and temperature-controlled environments.
It’s designed to detect only hydrocarbons and is a wicking cable. This cable may either be buried in screen pipe or slotted PVC pipe to as much as 6m or 20 ft. depth for locating fuel leaks while ignoring water’s presence. This cable is used in oil fields, refineries, or any other application where hydrogen sulfide or other corrosive gases are present.
Both AGW-Gold and AGT-Gold cables can detect hydrocarbon and water-based liquids. This means not many sensor cables are needed. After cleaning up a volatile hydrocarbon or water-based leak, all PAL-AT sensor cables can be dried and reused. These cables are made for corrosive chemical applications and don’t have any exposed metal. Every individual strand of braid wire is coated with a corrosion-resistant, heated polymer. Due to the absence of exposed metal, the need for special isolation precautions in cathodic-protected pipe applications is eliminated by the Gold cables. TFH-Gold cable ignores water-based liquids and detects hydrocarbon liquids by using a permeable hydrocarbon core. In the majority of cases, the sensor cable should be replaced after it’s exposed to hydrocarbons.
