PWS Probe vs. PFS Probe vs. PHLR Probe: What are the differences?

Let’s look at the three types of probe PermAlert offers.

PWS Probe

It’s a versatile leak detection probe that can detect all liquids that conduct. This includes water, acid, bases, and chemical solvents. The probe can perform in highly corrosive environments and can quickly reset after removal from a liquid. When connected to either the LiquidWatch or PAL-AT systems, the PWS probe integrator’s unique design eliminates the need for power at the probe level. Its key features are:

PFS Probe

It’s a hermetically sealed reed float switch that identifies whether a liquid is present or not. Because the PFS probe integrator is uniquely designed, the need for power at the probe level is eliminated when it’s connected to either the LiquidWatch or PAL-AT systems.

The PFS offers increased utilization of the PAL-AT capabilities when it’s connected to a sensing string (PAL-AT cable). Every assembly includes a NEMA 4X junction box, 6m (20 ft.) of lead cable to attach the float switch to the probe integrator, and a probe integrator with 18m (60 ft.) of a jumper cable to connect to the sensing string. PHLR Probe

It’s a resettable hydrocarbon probe that detects hydrocarbon liquids in interstitial spaces of containment areas where hydrocarbon liquid can accumulate to a depth of at least 0.25’°.

The probes can detect numerous hydrocarbon solvents and liquid fuels (crude oil, jet fuel, diesel fuel, and gasoline) but ignore vapors. Thus, no false alarms due to vapors are generated. Because the probe is uniquely designed, it employs reusable sensor elements, which activates a sealed switch after swelling upon exposure to hydrocarbon liquids. After exposure, the sensor elements can be easily reused, cleaned, and removed. This allows the system to reset quickly after the tests are done. Its key features are:
